Payment Options

Cash, check and credit card / Pay Pal are all accepted for payment.   Most insurance plans only cover a limited number of sessions per year. Thus, any sessions scheduled beyond the annual maximum become an out-of-pocket expense. Prior to the start of treatment, you should check with your insurance carrier to see if you have an annual session maximum before deciding to use your insurance.

Private Pay:  Although many patients have, and use, their mental health insurance benefits, others prefer to pay privately “out-of-pocket.” There are various reasons to consider this including your confidentiality and benefit coverage. If your insurance coverage pays for any of the costs of your therapy, you are giving your consent for information such as your diagnosis and appointment dates to be shared with your insurance company.

Insurance:   To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • Is the therapist I am considering in network?
  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
